AD is first a community of those who are committed to practicing and developing architecture
for the larger community. We are linked by 9 years of experience on shared projects by a
variety of talents. We are continuing to grow and develop our abilities for the larger community.
Will Melcher, Principal
Will founded the firm in 1993, thirteen years after graduating from Washington University,
St. Louis, having received the AIA student Medal and the Widmann Prize. He cut his teeth
working in large Boston firms and managed a National Science Foundation research project
at the GSD, Harvard University.
He is registered in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and has a NCARB certificate which
gives him access to registration across the US and Canada. His experience with large
projects and his focus on residential work are revealed in the success of his designs.
His commitment to the community is evident by his spearheading the start-up (and his continued participation in)
of the Wilton Main Street Association in 1998. This group has brought significant positive change to the downtown
including a new park, purchase of the lot for the new police station, securing of a major historic mill building,
a sign and lighting ordinance, and a large grant for new sidewalks, repaving and traffic calming devices.
